“I bought this business 18 months ago - a business with about 1200 active and inactive customers who were in MYOB but everything else including serial numbers of machines sold etc etc was all on cards. A total nightmare. A huge customer base (one of the main reasons for buying the business) but no way to communicate efficiently with them, no way to track equipment sold and no way to run campaigns to cross sell or contact inactive customers. Cash flow was a problem took, so it was important to find a solution that we could gradually build on until we had the full MYOB linked pro version. “Legrand has been the key to opening up our databases - stored on accounting software and old DOS database software. Using Keywords, we have narrowed down our classification from around 30 different customer types to about 8. Our sales staff has been able to quickly identify the industry types, plan their day by setting up activities then print out their call reports. At the end of the day, they update the data from the call reports - missing information, new contacts, new projects, etc - into Legrand. The best indication of this change was the realisation that even though the information was there before, it was now accessible and could be used in a constructive manner. Included in the daily process, is taking contact's business card details and putting them into Legrand, then throwing away the business card. The difference to our business is that our staff take their laptops with them and can now quickly find the information that they need to do their job. In the past, reliance was heavily on paper diaries, with little chance of the information stored being recorded for future access. Much frustration used to ensue when we had to scour through pages of handwritten material looking for that gem of information. Today, the document is attached to the customer's record. Legrand has allowed us to work smartly and dragged us into the 21st century.”
